In The King of Queens season 1 episode 4 titled "Richie's Song," Doug, played by Kevin James, and Carrie, played by Leah Remini, learn that their neighbor Richie has a hidden talent for singing. When Richie's wife Cindy asks for Carrie's help in planning a surprise party for their anniversary, she discovers that Richie has never sung in public before despite being an exceptional singer. Carrie then convinces Richie to sing at his own party.
However, there's a problem. Doug accidentally erases the tape of Richie's performance that he was supposed to give to Richie's manager the next day. Afraid to admit his mistake, Doug tries to recreate the performance by having Richie sing again at a karaoke bar. But it turns out that Richie's talent only shines in the familiar and relaxed setting of his own home, surrounded by his family and friends.
Meanwhile, Carrie is frustrated with her lower-than-expected raise at her law firm and decides to take matters into her own hands by stealing office supplies to sell on eBay. However, her plan backfires when she gets caught and is forced to apologize to her boss in front of the entire office.
As the episode comes to a close, Richie's wife Cindy surprises him with the ultimate anniversary gift: a full recording session with his own band. And even though Doug may not have been able to recreate the magic of the original performance, he learns a valuable lesson about honesty and integrity.
Overall, "Richie's Song" is a lighthearted episode that showcases the talents of the show's supporting characters while also highlighting the importance of honesty and integrity in all aspects of life.
