The Joe Schmo Show is a reality television series that follows a group of contestants who believe they are competing in a reality show. However, unknown to them, the entire program is staged and all the other contestants, presenters, and judges are actors. Joe is taken to a luxury resort, where he is hidden from the other contestants, and they are told that he was eliminated from the show.

Joe is confused and disappointed with the sudden turn of events, but he soon warms up to the idea of being on the beautiful island without being on the show. Ingrid and Bryce continue to keep Joe away from the show's proceedings, and while he is away, the other contestants continue their quest for the grand prize.

Throughout the episode, the show's hosts and actors have over-the-top reactions to everything happening around them. Their fake commentary embellishes the already ludicrous situations, and their false chemistry creates absurd situations.

He sneaks back into the set and tries to figure out what is going on. However, he is quickly caught by Ingrid and Bryce, who try and talk him down, telling him that he needs to trust them.
