George, Who? is the tenth episode of the fifth season of The Jeffersons, a popular American sitcom that aired from 1975 to 1985. The show follows the lives of an interracial couple, George and Louise Jefferson, as they navigate their new life living in a wealthy apartment building in Manhattan.
In this episode, George Jefferson, played by Sherman Hemsley, suffers from amnesia after he is robbed and hit on the head. He wakes up one morning with no recollection of who he is or where he lives, and he starts to believe that he is a man named "Ernest."
Louise, played by Isabel Sanford, is worried about her husband and tries to help him remember his past. Meanwhile, George's employee, Tom Willis, played by Franklin Cover, tries to take advantage of George's amnesia by convincing him to sign over power of attorney to him.
As the episode progresses, George slowly begins to remember some details of his life, but he still cannot remember his name or anything about his business. Louise seeks the help of a doctor, who confirms that George's amnesia is a result of the head injury he suffered during the robbery.
Despite the efforts of his wife to help him remember his past, George becomes so frustrated and confused that he decides to leave home and start a new life as "Ernest." He moves into a seedy motel, where he is taken advantage of by other residents.
Meanwhile, Louise continues to search for her husband and eventually finds him at the motel. She convinces him to return home with her, where he finally begins to remember his past and his true identity as George Jefferson.
The episode ends with George and Louise reconciling and embracing each other, grateful for the love and support they have provided for each other throughout their lives.
Overall, George, Who? is a heartwarming episode that showcases the strength of the Jeffersons' relationship and the bond they share. It is an excellent example of the strong characters and witty humor that made The Jeffersons such a beloved sitcom during its ten-year run.
