George and Louise Jefferson are gearing up for a swanky costume party being thrown by one of George's business associates. The couple plans to attend as Napoleon and Josephine, but there's a snag - Louise's costume hasn't arrived yet. As they anxiously wait for the delivery, they receive a phone call from a friend who's stumbled upon an amazing find - a Josephine costume that's the perfect size for Louise. But there's just one problem - the dress is being worn by the friend's maid, Ethel.
As George grapples with the idea of his wife wearing a costume that's already been worn, Louise decides to take matters into her own hands and buy a new Josephine costume. This leads to a hilarious mix-up when George himself accidentally picks up the wrong costume. When they arrive at the party, Louise is horrified to find herself in an elaborate Cleopatra costume, while George is dressed as a pirate.
As the party gets underway, the hilarity continues as George and Louise struggle to play their parts convincingly. Meanwhile, their friend Tom is struggling with his own costume woes - he's arrived dressed as Tarzan, but his girlfriend's Jane costume hasn't arrived either. Tom and George hatch a hilarious scheme to switch costumes mid-party, but things don't go exactly as planned.
The Costume Party is a classic episode of The Jeffersons that highlights the series' signature mix of sharp humor and heartwarming moments.
