Description
The Insectibles is a thrilling, animated TV series produced by Indonesia's One Animation and distributed by Janson Media. The show follows the adventures of Zak, a human boy who gets shrunk down to the size of an insect and must navigate a world full of gigantic insects to find his way back home.
The series takes place in a bizarro world where insects, often viewed as creepy-crawlies or household pests in our world, are highly evolved and have developed a complex society. This world, inhabited by colorful creatures such as beetles, ants, and spiders, is surprisingly comparable to human civilization with a bustling city, transportation systems, and technological advancements beyond those of our own. As Zak tries to figure out how to return back to his own world, he quickly discovers that the insect world poses a surprising degree of danger and he must avoid getting eaten or captured by insect predators such as spiders and mantises. Fortunately, he is aided by a group of insects who are sympathetic to his plight, including a ladybug named Aphid, a scarab beetle named Syd, and a caterpillar named Chowser.
One of the unique features of The Insectibles is that each of the insects has a special ability which helps Zak on his journey. For example, Syd is able to conjure up weapons from his own shell while Chowser is a master of disguise. The insects also have their own rivalries and alliances which dictate the internal politics of the insect society.
The show's animation style is bright and visually appealing, with characters rendered in a Pixar-esque style that is both accessible to children and appealing to adult viewers. The Insectibles features action-packed scenes filled with daring escapes and thrilling chases, punctuated by moments of humor and heartwarming friendship.
