Ep 5. Hood of Suspicion

The Injustice Files is a docudrama series that delves into some of the most disturbing and harrowing cases of injustice in the US criminal justice system. Episode 5 of Season 1, titled Hood of Suspicion, is no exception.

Additionally, the fact that he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt at the time of the murder seemed to be enough to make him seem guilty, despite the lack of any other evidence.

Another troubling aspect of the case is the role that eyewitness testimony played in Timothy's conviction. Eyewitness identification has been shown to be highly unreliable, yet it is still given a great deal of weight in criminal trials. In Timothy's case, the prosecution relied on the testimony of several eyewitnesses who claimed to have seen him in the area around the time of the murder. However, as the episode reveals, the eyewitnesses were all shown highly suggestive photo lineups by the police, which may have led them to mistakenly identify Timothy as the perpetrator.
