When the snow starts falling, Dr. Pol and his team are ready to brave the cold to help their furry patients. In this episode, appropriately titled "Baby, It's Cold Outside," the third episode of season 3 of The Incredible Dr. Pol, Dr. Pol and his staff face a variety of different cases during the winter months.
The episode starts out with Dr. Pol headed to the farm of one of his clients to check on a cow who is about to give birth. As he pulls up to the farm, he is greeted by the farmer and his two sons, who are all eager to see their new calf. Dr. Pol gets to work right away, examining the cow to ensure everything is progressing as it should be. With temperatures dropping rapidly, it's important to keep the calf and mother warm and well-fed. Dr. Pol takes every precaution to ensure that the birth goes smoothly, working through the snow and wind to make sure the new family is healthy and happy.
But it's not just large animals that need Dr. Pol's help in the cold weather. He also heads over to a client's house to check on a Doberman who is having trouble walking. After conducting a thorough exam, Dr. Pol discovers that the dog has a slipped disc, which is common in large dogs. He explains to the owner that with proper care and medication, the dog should fully recover and be able to walk normally again. As always, Dr. Pol takes all the time necessary to ensure that his client fully understands the diagnosis and treatment plan.
Later, Dr. Pol and his team are called out to help a horse who is suffering from colic. The horse's owner is clearly worried, but Dr. Pol and his team have seen this type of case many times before. They quickly get to work, administering medications and closely monitoring the horse's condition. The team works through the night to ensure the horse is comfortable and the colic is under control, never leaving the animal's side.
Other cases in "Baby, It's Cold Outside" include a goat who is suffering from a difficult birth and a young pig who needs its hooves trimmed. At every turn, Dr. Pol and his team show their expertise and dedication to every animal they encounter.
