As hunters, it’s always a bittersweet feeling to come to the end of a trip. After a season full of hard work, patience, and strategy, the final hunt is both exciting and emotional. In this episode of The Hunting Public, titled “Iowa – Last Day Muzzleloader Buck!”, the guys are down to their final moments in Iowa and they’re determined to make them count.
The episode opens with the team gathered around a map, discussing their plans for the day. They’re hunting a new property and have high hopes for what they might find there. But as with any new hunting spot, there are a lot of unknowns. They’ve scouted the area as best they can, but until they’re actually in the woods, they don’t know what to expect.
Once they get out into the field, the team splits up to cover more ground. Aaron, Zach, and Ted head in one direction while Greg and Jake take another route. The terrain is hilly and wooded, with patches of open fields and streams running throughout. This makes for challenging hunting conditions, but the guys are up for the challenge.
As they navigate the landscape, the team uses a variety of hunting techniques to try and draw in bucks. They rattle antlers, use deer calls, and even try grunting to lure the animals in closer. The weather is cold and snowy, which makes tracking the deer easier, but also means the animals are more skittish and harder to approach. Despite the challenges, the guys remain determined and focused on their goal.
Midway through the episode, the team takes a break to regroup and discuss their progress. They’ve had some close calls, but no one has managed to land a buck yet. They analyze their strategies and make adjustments to their plans, hoping to improve their chances in the hours to come.
As the day wears on, the guys begin to experience a mix of excitement and anxiety. This is their last chance to bag a buck in Iowa, and they’re feeling the pressure to make it happen. But at the same time, they know that hunting isn’t an exact science and there are no guarantees. They continue to hunt hard, hoping that their hard work and patience will pay off.
Finally, as the end of the day approaches, the team gets a break. Greg spots a large buck in the distance and signals to the others. They crouch down low and begin to stalk the animal, moving slowly and quietly through the woods. The buck is aware of their presence, but doesn’t seem overly alarmed. He moves cautiously, stopping to sniff the air and survey his surroundings.
The guys move in closer and closer, their hearts racing with excitement. They take carefully aimed shots, hoping to bring down the buck quickly and humanely. As the smoke clears and the buck falls, the team erupts in cheers and high-fives. They’ve done it – they’ve landed their last buck of the season in Iowa!
As the episode draws to a close, the guys gather around their hard-won trophy. They share stories of the season and reflect on the ups and downs of the past few weeks. Even though their trip is over, they all agree that the memories they’ve made will last a lifetime. And as they pack up their gear and hit the road, they know that they’ll be back next season, eager to do it all over again.
