The Hitchhiker is a show about a mysterious stranger who hitchhikes across America picking up and interacting with various people along the way. In season 1 episode 6, titled "Face to Face", the stranger finds himself in a small town where a young woman named Jenny is dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic incident.

Jenny is a shy and introverted woman who works at the local diner. She is constantly belittled and mistreated by her boss and feels trapped in her small town existence. One night, while walking home alone, she is attacked and almost raped by a man who had been stalking her. She manages to fight him off but now she is left with physical and emotional scars.

The stranger comes across Jenny at the diner and senses that she is troubled. He strikes up a conversation with her and offers her a ride home. They talk about her attack and the stranger listens attentively as she tells him what happened. He offers her some words of encouragement and tells her that she should stand up for herself and not let her boss or anyone else treat her poorly.

Jenny is comforted by the stranger's words and feels like she has finally found someone who understands her. She invites him into her home and they continue to talk. The stranger tells her about his own experiences and how he has traveled all over the country, never settling down for too long. He encourages her to try new things and to not be afraid of taking risks.

While they are talking, Jenny's attacker comes back to her house and tries to break in. The stranger senses that something is wrong and jumps into action. He manages to subdue the attacker and protect Jenny. She is grateful for his help and realizes that she is stronger than she thought.

The stranger tells Jenny that he has to leave and continue his journey, but that she should never forget the strength that she found within herself. She thanks him for everything and watches as he walks away.

"Face to Face" is a compelling episode of The Hitchhiker that deals with themes of trauma, empowerment, and resilience. It shows how the chance encounter with a stranger can change the course of one's life and highlights the importance of human connection and empathy. The episode is well-acted and effectively balances moments of tension and drama with moments of heartfelt emotion. Overall, it is a worthwhile addition to the series.
