Returning to the television sphere after nearly a decade of its predecessor, The Hills: New Beginnings, follows the lives of returning cast members and their newest additions as they navigate relationships, careers, and ultimately, reality TV fame. In the eighth episode of season one, titled "Are We Exclusive?", the cast finds themselves facing the consequences of their past actions and decisions.
Spencer and Heidi Pratt, notorious for their tumultuous relationship, continue to work on their marriage in therapy. Finally, Brody Jenner and his new flame, Josie Canseco, hit a roadblock in their relationship when Brody receives a text from another woman. Feeling unsure of their exclusivity, Josie confronts Brody about his intentions and the two must decide if they're ready for a committed relationship.
