The Green: Eco Documentaries from Sundance Channel is an informative and inspiring series that explores the environmental challenges facing our planet today. Each episode focuses on a different issue, from climate change and pollution to animal extinction and deforestation, and presents a range of perspectives and solutions from experts, activists, and ordinary people.

What sets The Green apart from other eco-documentaries is its emphasis on personal stories and emotional impact. Rather than just presenting statistics and scientific facts, the series delves into the human experience of environmental problems, showing how they affect individuals and communities on a daily basis. Viewers are introduced to people who are directly impacted by these issues, such as farmers whose crops are failing due to drought, families who have lost their homes to floods, and indigenous communities whose land is being destroyed by corporations.

By highlighting these personal stories, The Green encourages viewers to connect with these issues on a deeper level and to understand that environmental problems are not just abstract concepts, but real-world problems that affect real people. This approach also makes the series more accessible to a wider audience, as it avoids the dry or preachy tone that can sometimes make documentaries feel like homework.

Another strength of The Green is its diverse range of topics and voices. Instead of focusing solely on climate change, the series covers a wide range of environmental issues, such as plastic waste, overfishing, and the impact of mining on local communities. Each episode also features interviews with a variety of experts, activists, and scientists, who present a range of solutions and approaches to the problem at hand.

These diverse perspectives help to make The Green a more engaging and thought-provoking series, as viewers are exposed to different views and ideas that they may not have encountered otherwise. This approach also encourages a sense of collaboration and community, as viewers are encouraged to take action and make positive changes in their own lives.

Overall, The Green: Eco Documentaries from Sundance Channel is a must-watch series for anyone who cares about the environment and wants to learn more about the challenges facing our planet. With its personal stories, diverse perspectives, and engaging approach, this series is both informative and inspiring, and will leave viewers feeling both empowered and informed.

Garbage Warrior
2. Garbage Warrior
April 2, 2008
Directed by Oliver Hodge and co-production of Open Eye Media, ITVS International and Sundance Channel. This inspiring film profiles maverick architect Michael Reynolds, who has spent thirty years developing radically original models of self-sustaining housing near Taos, New Mexico. Working with a crew of like-minded idealists and professionals, Reynolds has channeled his unstoppable imagination into strange yet functional dwellings that are made from garbage like old tires and beer cans. With the colorful, passionate architect at its center, Garbage Warrior traces the ups and downs of an iconoclastic career, from early experiments to heartbreaking setbacks to disaster relief projects at the other end of the world.

1. Art from the Arctic
September 16, 2008
As part of THE GREEN, Sundance Channel presents a series of documentary films focusing on timely and pressing environmental issues of the day. From 2003 to 2005, British artist/filmmaker David Buckland organized three sailing expeditions to the High Arctic as part of a series of collaborations between artists, educators, and scientists, designed to create public awareness of global climate change. David Hinton's film captures those expeditions, immersing us in the Arctic's otherworldly sights, sounds, and silences as Buckland and his companions - including composer Max Eastley, photographer Alex Hartley, writer Ian McEwan, and sculptor Rachel Whiteread - explore the dramatic landscape.
