Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell) and the rest of her motley crew of afterlife acquaintances are back for the third season of The Good Place. In the third episode titled "The Snowplow," Michael (Ted Danson), the former architect of the afterlife neighborhood that was supposed to be The Good Place, and Janet (D'Arcy Carden), an all-knowing database, are growing increasingly concerned that their friends aren't able to improve themselves in their idealized version of the afterlife.
Meanwhile, Chidi (William Jackson Harper), a ethics professor who has previously been unable to make decisions, has now been tasked with choosing between two love interests in the form of Eleanor and Simone (Kirby Howell-Baptiste). Eleanor is a newcomer to The Good Place who has been mistaken for a much kinder and more ethical person than she actually is, and Simone is Chidi's colleague from before his death who has now joined them in the afterlife.
As the group tries to adapt to their new situation, Michael and Janet team up to create a plan to give them a new perspective on things. This involves sending two of the group members, Tahani (Jameela Jamil) and Jason (Manny Jacinto), down to Earth to find out more about their lives and try to help them improve themselves.
However, things don't go quite as planned when Tahani finds out that her sister is getting married and ends up getting too involved with the wedding preparations, while Jason gets himself into trouble with a local gang.
As the two struggle to overcome their respective obstacles, Michael and Janet are faced with a new challenge - how to deal with the arrival of a new resident who is a snowplow driver named Doug (Michael McKean). Doug is a relatively simple man who is content with his life, but Michael and Janet worry that his presence in The Good Place might cause the other residents to become stagnant and complacent.
"The Snowplow" is another clever and witty episode of The Good Place that manages to balance humor and philosophical questions with ease. Fans of the show will be delighted to see their favorite characters back in action, while newcomers will be drawn in by the fast-paced, irreverent humor and engaging storyline.
Overall, the third season of The Good Place continues to cement the show's status as one of the smartest and most entertaining sitcoms on television today. With a talented cast, sharp writing, and a unique premise that manages to explore complex ethical and philosophical problems in a lighthearted and accessible way, The Good Place is a show that truly stands out.
