Blanche Devereaux decides that it's time for her to go back to work after realizing that her monthly bills have been adding up, but she is nervous and unsure of what kind of job she should be doing at her age. One day, while watching television, Blanche sees an advertisement for a company that hires seniors to sell beauty products door-to-door. Excited about the prospect of being her boss, making some money and helping women look and feel their best, Blanche decides to give it a try.
Meanwhile, Rose Nylund is struggling with her own set of problems as she attempts to sell her beloved car, which she is now unable to drive due to her glaucoma. Rose is very proud of her car and its excellent condition, but the stress of trying to sell it is starting to wear on her. Eventually, she does sell the car to a young couple, but not before her beloved vehicle almost ends up in the hands of a shady car dealer.
Dorothy Zbornak and Sophia Petrillo are both supportive of their friends' endeavors, but they are also dealing with their own problems. Dorothy is trying to balance being a teacher with completing her doctoral dissertation while Sophia is unhappy with her living arrangements and is threatening to move out.
As Blanche starts her new job, she quickly discovers that it's not as easy as it seemed on TV. Her first few attempts to sell the beauty products are unsuccessful, and she's met with a lot of rejection from potential customers. However, she refuses to give up and is determined to make the sales she needs to pay her bills. Eventually, Blanche's perseverance pays off when she is able to sell a large amount of products and is even named the top salesperson in the company.
Rose, on the other hand, is struggling after the sale of her car. She begins to feel lost without her beloved vehicle and wonders if she made the right decision in selling it. However, Dorothy and Sophia are there to remind her that she can always buy a new car down the line and that there are more important things in life than possessions.
In the end, all of the women come together to celebrate Blanche's success as a salesperson. They realize that even though they're getting older, they still have a lot to offer and that it's never too late to try something new. With their friendship and support, they know that they can overcome any obstacle that life throws their way.
