The Goldbergs is an American sitcom that is set in the 1980s in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. It follows the life of a family named the Goldbergs, with the focus on the youngest member Adam Goldberg and his obsession with pop culture and film-making. The show is loosely based on the life of creator Adam F. Goldberg.
Season 2 Episode 17 of The Goldbergs is titled "The Adam Bomb". The episode revolves around Adam Goldberg's dream of creating a horror movie. Adam is determined to make a movie that is so scary that it will leave the audience shaking in their seats. He enlists the help of his brother, Barry, and his friend, Chad, to help him create a masterpiece.
While the boys are planning their masterpiece, Beverly Goldberg, Adam's mother, is busy trying to clean out the garage. She wants to turn the space into a gym so that she can get into shape for her upcoming high school reunion. Unfortunately for Beverly, her husband, Murray, has been using the garage as his own personal storage space for years. Beverly is determined to clean out the space, but Murray is equally determined to hang on to his junk.
As the boys work on their movie, they encounter a few obstacles. They struggle to come up with a plot that is scary enough, and they have a difficult time finding the right location to shoot their film. To make matters worse, Chad's father, Mr. Kremp, who is the school's gym teacher and Adam's biggest critic, threatens to shut down their project.
Meanwhile, Beverly and Murray continue to argue over the garage. Beverly is determined to get rid of Murray's junk, but Murray is equally determined to hang on to it. To try to persuade Murray to clean out the garage, Beverly offers to let Murray have a room of his own where he can store his things. Murray agrees to the offer, and the couple makes a deal to clean out the garage together.
As the boys continue to work on their movie, they come up with a plot that is truly terrifying. They decide to film on location at an old abandoned school. However, when they arrive at the school, they discover that it is not as abandoned as they thought it was. They find themselves face to face with a group of creepy janitors who seem determined to put a stop to their movie-making.
Back at home, Beverly and Murray end up bonding over their crazy junk-filled garage. They discover that they have a lot in common and end up having a good time together. In the end, the boys successfully complete their movie and earn the respect of their classmates. Beverly is also successful in her quest to get in shape and impress her classmates at her high school reunion.
Overall, The Adam Bomb is a fun and entertaining episode of The Goldbergs. It showcases the family's individual quirks and highlights their ability to come together in the end. The episode also features 80s pop culture references and nods to classic horror movies, making it a must-watch for fans of the decade.
