Ep 4. Revenge O' The Nerds

Beverly decides to teach Adam's friend and perpetual rival, Johnny Atkins, a lesson after he embarrasses Adam at a school dance. She sets out to make Johnny feel like a nerd by putting him through a series of "nerd challenges," including quiz bowl and chess club, but Johnny surprises everyone with his natural aptitude for nerdy pursuits. Meanwhile, Erica and Barry face their own dilemmas as they both struggle with maintaining relationships with their significant others while juggling school and work. Erica seeks advice from Bev, who urges her to prioritize her boyfriend over her job, while Barry takes drastic measures by faking an illness to get out of being fired from his job at Spencer's Gifts. As the Goldberg family navigates the challenges of growing up and staying true to themselves, they ultimately learn that there is no shame in being a nerd or following your heart.
