Jim Longworth and his team of detectives are back with another thrilling episode in The Glades season 2. Episode 6, titled "Gibtown", sees the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) calling in Longworth and his partner, Carlos Sanchez, to investigate the murder of a man in a clown suit in a small circus town called Gibsonton, also known as Gibtown.
Gibsonton is a real-life town located just south of Tampa, and it's a well-known wintering location for carnival and circus performers. As Longworth and Sanchez arrive on the scene, they find the murder victim, Frank the Clown, and his accomplice, known as the Human Blockhead, lying dead in their trailer. The trail of evidence is tough to parse through, as almost everyone in Gibtown has a connection to the circus world, and Frank the Clown was well-known and liked in the community, leaving Longworth to wonder who could have done such a thing.
The detectives soon realize that Frank the Clown was more than just a performer. He was an undercover agent for the FDLE, tasked with keeping an eye on a number of suspects, including a shady ringmaster named Teddy Barnes, his ex-wife Polly of the Polly and Chief act, and a young contortionist named Lila. The investigation leads the FDLE to believe that one of these three suspects may have killed Frank the Clown, so Longworth and Sanchez begin exploring their connections to the victim.
As they dig deeper, the detectives uncover further layers of the mystery, including a love triangle involving Barnes, Polly, and Frank. They also discover that Lila had a crush on Frank, but he rebuffed her advances, causing her to seek revenge in any way possible. Meanwhile, Longworth's romance with Callie heats up, as she assists in the investigation and helps him understand the circus world and its inhabitants.
The episode is tense, full of twists and turns, and it does not disappoint with its resolution. The show's cinematography and attention to detail capture the unique atmosphere of Gibsonton, and the cast delivers strong performances that keep you hooked until the very end.
Overall, "Gibtown" is an exciting and highly entertaining episode that showcases the best of The Glades. With its thrilling plot, intriguing characters, and stunning visuals, this episode is not one to miss for fans of crime dramas.
