Meanwhile, Don Luis has received a message from the bandits with instructions on where to leave the ransom. Gene and Pat intercept the message and decide to use the opportunity to set a trap for the bandits.
The plan works and Gene, Pat, and Pepe are able to rescue Maria and capture the bandits. But their victory is short-lived when they discover that one of the bandits is actually a rebel leader who has been fighting against the corrupt government in Mexico. Gene and Pat must then decide whether to turn the rebel over to the authorities or to let him go free.
As with all episodes of The Gene Autry Show, "Bandidos" is full of action, adventure, and moral dilemmas. Gene Autry is the quintessential hero, always ready to help those in need and stand up for what is right. Pat Buttram provides comic relief and adds to the overall charm of the show.
