S2 E9 - Outlaw Escape
In this episode of The Gene Autry Show, Gene and his sidekick Pat Buttram set out on a mission to capture a dangerous outlaw who has escaped from prison. The outlaw, named Duke Lassiter, had been serving time for a long list of crimes including robbery, burglary, and murder.
As Gene and Pat travel through the rugged terrain, they encounter a group of travelers who are heading in the same direction and join forces with them. Along the way, Gene and Pat get to know the travelers and learn that they are all in search of a new life in California. They are a diverse group, consisting of a family traveling in a wagon, a group of Chinese immigrants, and a young runaway named Billy.
As they continue their journey, they spot Duke Lassiter and give chase. The chase leads them to a deserted town where they find Duke hiding out. A fierce shootout ensues, but Gene and Pat are able to apprehend the outlaw and bring him to justice.
However, Duke Lassiter is not the only danger the group faces on their journey. They also encounter bandits who attempt to rob and harm them. Fortunately, Gene and Pat are there to protect them and provide them with much-needed support.
Throughout the episode, Gene performs several musical numbers, including "I'm a Happy Cowboy" and "When It's Springtime in the Rockies." These songs add to the overall fun and entertainment of the episode.
In the end, Gene and Pat not only capture Duke Lassiter but also help the group of travelers reach their destination safely. It's another exciting adventure for the versatile cowboy and his trusty sidekick.
