Garfield and his friends are back with another episode titled "It's a Cat World / Mailman Blues" in The Garfield Show season 1. In this episode, Garfield the lazy cat finds himself in a world full of cats and no humans. It begins with Garfield sleeping peacefully in his bed only to wake up and discover that his entire surroundings have changed. His bed has disappeared, and he finds himself surrounded by other cats in a neighborhood.
As he tries to figure out what's happening, he realizes that he's no longer in his world but in an alternate reality where cats rule the world. Garfield is amazed and excited to see that every job in this alternate universe is filled with cats, from doctors to police officers to even the mailman. While observing this new world, he meets a beautiful cat named Angel, and they instantly hit it off.
However, Garfield soon realizes that living in this world is not as easy as he thinks. He becomes tired of doing all the cat-like activities like hunting mice, licking faces, and drinking milk. Moreover, all the cats dislike Mondays like Garfield, and they even have a famous "Mon-daze" dance to express their disdain for the day!
While Garfield is having a tough time in this alternate world, Jon and Odie are missing him dearly in their own world. They desperately try to find a way to bring him back, and they eventually figure out that Garfield must have gone through a portal that had transferred him to this alternate world.
Meanwhile, back in the cat world, Garfield becomes entangled in a dangerous situation when Angel is captured by the Cat Police for apparently stealing fish from a fish stand. Garfield sets out to save Angel, but he realizes that he can't do it alone. He rallies the other cats and convinces them to help him rescue Angel and prove her innocence.
In the end, with the help of his new cat friends' efforts, Garfield rescues Angel and brings her back to the real world. The episode ends with Garfield waking up back in his own bed, happy to be back at home with his beloved human companions, Jon and Odie.
In the second half of the episode, "Mailman Blues," we see Garfield causing havoc in his usual style with the mailman, Mr. Mailman. Garfield has an obsession with Mr. Mailman, and he always tries to stop him from delivering mail. The mailman is fed up with Garfield's antics and decides to go on vacation, hoping to escape the cat's pestering.
As soon as the mailman leaves, Garfield finds a letter addressed to him and is excited to read it. However, he realizes that the letter was meant for Jon and not him. Garfield tries to intercept the letter and replace it with his own writing so that Jon doesn't read the original message.
In this episode, we see Garfield learning a valuable lesson about honesty when he realizes that the original letter was an apology to Jon from the mailman for getting his newspaper wet. Garfield decides to do the right thing and returns the letter to Jon, asking for forgiveness for his actions.
