Will and Carlton are driving in Carlton's car when they get pulled over by the police. Carlton is upset because he believes they were stopped because of their race. At the police station, Will tries to make a joke of the situation and is then seen as disrespecting the law. The judge sentences Will to two weeks of community service, which he must complete with a group of misfits including an environmentalist, a nerd, and a tough guy. Throughout the episode, Will tries to get out of his community service hours but eventually realizes he can have a positive impact on the community by cleaning up a park. Meanwhile, at home, Uncle Phil is nervous about appearing on a televised debate with his opponent, Judge Robertson, and seeks Vivian's help to prepare. During the debate, Judge Robertson tries to make Phil look bad by bringing up his nephew's recent run-in with the law, but Phil is able to defend his family and values. At the end of the episode, Will completes his community service and learns a valuable lesson about respecting authority and giving back to the community.
