In The Following season 1 episode 2, titled "Chapter Two," the intense suspense continues as former FBI agent Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) tries to catch his nemesis, notorious serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy), who has escaped from prison.
The episode opens with Carroll's cult followers, led by his former lover Molly (Jennifer Ferrin), abducting Carroll's son Joey (Kyle Catlett) from his new foster home and bringing him to an unknown location. Ryan also must confront his own personal demons as he struggles with alcoholism and PTSD from his past confrontations with Carroll.
As the episode progresses, tensions build and the stakes become higher as Carroll's cult followers become more active and violent. Ryan and his team race against time to find Joey and stop Carroll from unleashing his twisted plans on the world once again.
