In the season 3 premiere of The First 48, we follow two separate homicide investigations in different parts of the country. In Louisville, Kentucky, the homicide unit is called to a gruesome scene in a house covered in blood. Two women have been found bludgeoned to death with a hammer, and the killer appears to have put up a fight. With no witnesses or obvious suspects, Detective Rick Arnold and his team must canvas the neighborhood and comb through evidence to try and identify the perpetrator.
Meanwhile, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, a triple shooting has left two men dead and one critically injured. With few leads to go on, Detective John Holthusen and his partner must race against the clock to interview witnesses, scour the crime scene, and track down possible suspects. As they piece together the events of the night in question, they uncover surprising motives and connections that could lead them to the killer.
As the clock ticks down and the pressure mounts, both teams must rely on their instincts and experience to gather the evidence they need to make an arrest. Will they catch their suspects before they slip away, or will the cases go cold and join the growing list of unsolved homicides? The First 48 takes viewers behind the scenes of some of the most complex and compelling murder investigations in America, showing the intense dedication and perseverance required to bring justice to the families of victims.
