In season 15, episode 2 of The First 48 titled "Blood on Bourbon," the New Orleans homicide team is called to investigate the murder of a young man who was shot to death in the French Quarter.
When detectives arrive at the scene, they find the victim lying face down on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The victim has no identification on him, so the detectives are forced to start from scratch in their investigation.
The detectives begin by canvassing the area and interviewing witnesses. They learn that the victim was a young man who had recently moved to New Orleans from Texas and was known to hang out in the French Quarter. One witness tells detectives that he had seen the victim earlier in the night with a group of people, but couldn't provide any more information.
Detectives then turn their attention to surveillance footage from the area. The footage shows a car driving up to the victim, and then shots are fired. However, the car's license plate is not visible on the footage.
The detectives continue to work around the clock, following up on every lead and interviewing anyone who may have information about the case. As they piece together the victim's movements leading up to his death, they discover that there were multiple people with the victim in the hours before the shooting.
With the help of video surveillance, the detectives are able to track down the car seen in the footage. They identify the driver and bring him in for questioning. The driver initially denies any involvement in the shooting, but eventually confesses to driving the car and being present at the scene of the crime.
The driver provides the detectives with information about the other individuals who were with the victim before the shooting. Detectives are able to track down and interview the other individuals, which leads them to a suspect who they believe pulled the trigger.
The detectives work tirelessly to gather enough evidence to bring the suspect to trial and ultimately secure a conviction. However, as the trial approaches, they must overcome a number of challenges, including witness intimidation and conflicting testimony.
"Blood on Bourbon" is a gripping episode of The First 48 that showcases the hard work and perseverance of the New Orleans homicide team as they work to solve a brutal murder case. From start to finish, viewers will be on the edge of their seats as the detectives unravel the mystery surrounding the victim's death and work tirelessly to bring the perpetrator to justice.
