During season 2, episode 13 of The FBI Files entitled "Cop Killer," the FBI investigates the murder of two police officers in the state of California.

The episode opens with a frantic call reporting shots fired in a quiet neighborhood. The neighborhood is located in the city of Monrovia, California, a suburb outside of Los Angeles. When the local police department arrives on the scene, they discover two police officers dead from apparent gunshot wounds. One of the officers was still in their patrol car, while the other had stumbled out of the vehicle. The brutal nature of the crime makes it clear to all involved that the perpetrator is dangerous and on the run.

The FBI is called in to help with the investigation due to the nature of the crime and the high degree of risk involved. Agents with the Los Angeles FBI Violent Crimes Task Force are assigned to the case. They quickly set about gathering evidence, surveying the crime scene, and interviewing witnesses, family members, and friends of the victims.

While investigating, the task force discovers a nearby resident had been playing loud music. At first, the neighbors assumed the noise was a disturbance, however, after the investigation, they linked it to the crime. The team hypothesized that the music may have been used as a means of distraction while the perpetrator crept up on the police vehicle and shot the officers within.

Through combing through the case files and evidence, the FBI task force investigators started piecing together information about the perpetrator. One witness told the agents that she saw a man running down the street with a gun around the time of the shooting. Thanks to this lead, the FBI discovers the identity of the perpetrator, but it's just the beginning of their efforts to track him down.

The investigation into the cop-killer leads the task force to an individual by the name of Jorge Arroyo Garcia. Garcia is revealed to have previously been linked to criminal activity and drug trafficking, the team now knows that he possesses weapon training and most likely a heightened threat to the general public.

Working quickly and methodically, the FBI task force uncovers additional information about Garcia's whereabouts through various sources, including tapping his phone. As a result, they were able to track his movements and set up a strategic plan to capture him.

The task force finally catches up with Garcia in Tijuana, Mexico, causing an intense gunfight, which results in the FBI surrounding the building he was hiding in. After the intense standoff and a lengthy process of negotiations, the FBI finally apprehends Garcia.

Through interviews with Garcia, investigators gained valuable insights on what motivated him to kill the police officers. By examining his motives, the FBI agents were able to understand the deadly sequence of events leading up to the senseless killing.

Overall, season 2, episode 13 of The FBI Files - "Cop Killer" is a gripping and intense episode that gives viewers a rare glimpse into the often dangerous and difficult work of the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force. With a keen attention to detail and a dedication to justice, the team reveals the lengths they will go to solve a difficult case and ensure that justice is served.
