Family Tools is a comedy television series that aired on ABC in 2013. The show is about a man named Jack Shea (played by Kyle Bornheimer) who has spent his entire life trying to avoid responsibility and work. However, when his father, Tony Shea (played by J.K. Simmons), has a heart attack and is unable to run the family handyman business, Jack is forced to step up and take over the company.

The show is set in the fictional town of Ridgefield, where Tony's business, the family handyman company, is located. Jack, who has no experience in the handyman business, is forced to work with Darren (played by Edi Gathegi), who is a skilled and experienced handyman who has worked for the family business for years. However, despite Darren's knowledge and expertise, he is often frustrated by Jack's inexperience and lack of work ethic.

In addition to Darren, Jack is also joined by his younger brother, Mason (played by Johnny Pemberton), who is often his partner in crime and willing accomplice in his schemes to avoid work. However, Mason is also the voice of reason for Jack, often reminding him of the importance of family and responsibility.

Throughout the series, Jack and the rest of the family must deal with a wide range of clients and odd jobs, from fixing leaky faucets to repairing a broken fence. Along the way, they also deal with their own personal struggles and relationships, as they navigate the ups and downs of running a family business.

One of the most appealing aspects of Family Tools is its cast. Kyle Bornheimer is a seasoned comedic actor who brings a natural charm and likability to his role as Jack, making him a relatable and sympathetic character despite his flaws. J.K. Simmons is equally impressive as Tony, a gruff but lovable father who is determined to see his family business succeed. Meanwhile, Edi Gathegi and Johnny Pemberton provide excellent support as Darren and Mason, respectively, adding depth and humor to the show.

Another strong point of the series is its humor. The show is full of clever one-liners, physical gags, and situational comedy, all of which are delivered with excellent timing and execution. Despite dealing with serious themes like family dynamics and life lessons, the show never takes itself too seriously, resulting in a lighthearted and enjoyable viewing experience.

Overall, Family Tools is a charming and entertaining sitcom that stands out thanks to its talented cast and well-executed humor. While the show only lasted for one season, it remains a noteworthy entry in the world of family comedies, and is well worth checking out for fans of the genre.

Family Tools is a series that ran for 1 seasons (10 episodes) between May 1, 2013 and on ABC
