Timmy Turner is back with his two fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda, in the second season of The Fairly OddParents. In this episode, titled "Boy Toy/Inspection Detection," Timmy finds himself in yet another predicament when he asks for a toy to help him impress the girls in his class.
Determined to win the heart of his crush, Trixie Tang, Timmy wishes for a "cool toy" that will make him irresistible to girls. Cosmo and Wanda, as usual, grant his wish, but the toy they give him turns out to be a tad too drastic. The toy, a robotic version of himself, takes control of Timmy's life, doing things he would never do, and wreaking havoc wherever it goes.
The toy is so convincing that it even convinces Timmy's parents and classmates that it's the real Timmy. However, things get out of hand when the toy starts to become more popular than Timmy, and he starts losing all of his friends to his own toy. To make matters worse, the toy says things that Timmy never would, causing him to be ostracized by his friends and eventually causing him to realize that he needs to get rid of the toy once and for all.
In the second half of the episode, Timmy's school is getting ready for a big "super-crazy-no-rules day," where students are encouraged to bring in whatever they want to show off to the class. Timmy brings in a "detector" to test whether his classmates are humans or "alien spies," but the detector ends up causing a lot more trouble than he anticipated.
The detector causes chaos and confusion throughout the school when it starts beeping randomly, demanding that everyone be inspected. Things only get worse when the device explodes and causes even more chaos. In the end, it turns out that Timmy's "detector" was actually just a random object he picked up on the street, which made him realize the importance of being honest and true to himself and others.
Overall, "Boy Toy/Inspection Detection" offers up some classic, wacky Fairly OddParents humor with a great message about being true to oneself. Fans of the show will love this episode as it represents everything they have come to know and love about the series. The show's brilliant animation and clever writing make it both entertaining and educational, and this episode is no exception.
