The Boys in the Band/Hex Games is the first episode of the second season of the popular animated series, The Fairly OddParents. The episode begins with Timmy Turner, a young boy who is accompanied by his fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda. Timmy is excited to attend a sleepover at his friend AJ's house, but his parents forbid him from going.
Frustrated, Timmy wishes that he were a grown-up so that he could have the freedom to do what he wants. Cosmo and Wanda grant his wish, but things quickly spiral out of control. Timmy transforms into a middle-aged man and finds himself unable to control his adult body or the chaos that he has caused.
Meanwhile, back in fairy world, Cosmo and Wanda's own sleepover plans are interrupted when they are summoned to a Hex Games tournament. Cosmo and Wanda's team, the Pixies, are up against the tough competition of the Anti-Fairies, but they are determined to come out on top.
As the Hex Games progress, Timmy's situation becomes more and more dire. He is unable to fit in with the adults at the sleepover and is forced to flee when his parents come looking for him. He eventually comes face-to-face with Cosmo and Wanda, who use their magic to transform him back into a child.
The Hex Games come down to a nail-biting finish, with the Pixies and Anti-Fairies tied for the lead. In the final round, the two teams compete in a game of tug-of-war, with the fate of the Hex Games resting on the outcome.
