Using scientific ingenuity to interpret the clues, and taxing their physical endurance to the hilt, Tom, Annie, Paul, and Lance repel down cliffs and cross gaping river gorges in an orienteering race through the wilderness, against cross town rivals. As the race progresses, talks of a forest phantom the dreaded Windigo capture the imagination of Paul and Lance, and while they frighten each other with gruesome stories, Toms near fatal accident raises questions about the Windigo myth.
