In the seventeenth episode of season one of The Drew Carey Show, titled "The Front," Drew's boss, Mr. Bell, announces that they are looking for a new spokesmodel for the store. Drew believes that Mimi, the head of the women's department, would be perfect for the job and encourages her to try out.
Meanwhile, Drew's friend Oswald is struggling to pay his bills and decides to sell his blood plasma to make some extra money. Drew also volunteers to sell his plasma, and they both go to a plasma center to donate. However, when they return to work, they realize that they may have put their jobs in jeopardy, as they signed a waiver that stated they could not engage in any activities that would jeopardize their health or impair their job performance.
Desperate to keep their jobs, Drew and Oswald try to find a way to pass a required drug test. They visit a drug dealer, but quickly realize that buying and using illegal drugs is not the solution. Instead, they decide to use Mimi's urine to pass the test. However, when Mimi's urine turns out to be positive for drugs, they must come up with another plan.
Meanwhile, Mimi has been preparing for the spokesmodel audition and has created a secret weapon: a special bra that enhances her cleavage. She is confident that she will win the competition, but Drew is worried that her overconfidence may be her downfall.
On the day of the audition, Mimi gives an impressive performance, but Drew and his friends sabotage her by using a remote control to cause her enhanced breasts to deflate in the middle of her speech. The sabotage works, and Mimi does not win the competition.
At the end of the episode, Drew and Oswald are relieved to pass the drug test, and they keep their jobs. However, they realize that they need to start making better choices in their lives and take steps towards improving their financial situations.
Overall, "The Front" is a humorous episode that explores the characters' desperate attempts to keep their jobs and make ends meet. The episode is also a commentary on the pressure to conform to traditional beauty standards and the lengths people will go to succeed in a competitive environment.
