Harry Dresden is back in the third episode of The Dresden Files season 1, entitled "Hair of the Dog." In this episode, Harry is asked to help investigate a string of brutal murders that have occurred in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. At the same time, his own past comes back to haunt him when he is confronted by a former flame who needs his help.
The episode opens with a gruesome murder scene in which a young woman has been brutally killed. The Chicago police department is on the case, but they are baffled as to who could be responsible for such a heinous crime. Harry is approached by the woman's sister, who believes that Harry's unique abilities as a wizard could help her find the killer. Harry agrees to help, and he soon discovers that the killer may be a werewolf.
As Harry investigates the case, he is plagued by memories of his own past. He is visited by a woman named Bianca, who he used to know when he was involved with the world of vampires. Bianca is now the head of the local vampire court, and she wants Harry to do a job for her. Harry refuses, but Bianca is not one to take no for an answer. She threatens Harry and his friends, causing Harry to realize that he may need to confront his past in order to move forward.
Meanwhile, Harry continues to investigate the murders, enlisting the help of his friend and police officer, Karrin Murphy. Together, they begin to piece together the evidence and find that the killer may be a werewolf who is using a special potion to control his transformations. Harry and Murphy set out to find the werewolf before he can kill again.
As the episode progresses, tensions rise between Harry and Bianca. Harry is forced to confront his old life and the choices that he made in order to survive. Meanwhile, the werewolf continues to strike, leaving a trail of death and destruction in his wake. Harry and Murphy race against the clock to find the werewolf before he can kill again, while Harry also tries to protect himself and his loved ones from Bianca's wrath.
In the end, Harry is able to solve the case and stop the werewolf from killing again. However, he is left with the realization that his past is always going to be a part of him. He also knows that he must continue to use his skills as a wizard to help those in need, even if it means putting himself in danger.
"Hair of the Dog" is a tense and action-packed episode that delves deeper into Harry's past and his relationships with those around him. It also introduces a new supernatural creature into the mix, adding to the show's already rich mythology.
