Uhny Uftz is the second episode of the fifth season of The Dick Van Dyke Show. The show was created by Carl Reiner and starred Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Rose Marie, and Morey Amsterdam. This episode originally aired on October 2nd, 1965 on CBS.

The episode begins with Rob Petrie (Dick Van Dyke) attempting to come up with a name for a television show. He and his co-writer Buddy Sorrell (Morey Amsterdam) are struggling to think of anything that will stick, but then their boss Alan Brady (Carl Reiner) offers up a strange set of words that somehow just work: "Uhny Uftz." They don't quite know what it means, but they love the sound of it.

From there, the gang sets out to create a sketch for the show. They are all excited about the prospect, but quickly run into some problems. First, they can't agree on what "Uhny Uftz" actually means. They start to argue about whether it's a person, place or thing. Then, they have trouble coming up with a plot for the sketch. They consider using the phrase as a nonsense word in various situations, but nothing seems quite right.

Meanwhile, Rob's wife Laura (Mary Tyler Moore) is dealing with her own problem at home. Her sister-in-law has called to say that she will be stopping by to visit. Laura does not get along with her sister-in-law, and she's worried about how to handle the visit. She's also feeling a bit jealous because her husband is so wrapped up in his work that he hardly seems to notice her.

As the episode unfolds, the gang continues to work on the sketch while Laura tries to figure out how to handle her unwanted visitor. The tension builds as the deadline for the sketch approaches, but Rob and Buddy finally manage to come up with a concept that everyone agrees on. They decide to use "Uhny Uftz" as a character who is constantly being misunderstood and misinterpreted by everyone around him.

The sketch is a hit, but Laura's sister-in-law is not. She arrives late, ignores Laura, and ends up ruining dinner. Despite the chaos in their personal lives, the characters on the show manage to come together and create something special. They are reminded of the value of teamwork and the power of a good laugh.

Overall, Uhny Uftz is a fun and fast-paced episode that showcases the dynamic chemistry between the members of the cast. It's a great example of the show's ability to blend witty humor with relatable real-life situations.
