Ep 18. Happy Birthday and Too Many More

Rob plans a surprise party for his wife Laura's birthday, despite her insistence that she doesn't want one. As the day goes on, things start to go wrong. First, Laura's mother accidentally ruins the surprise by mentioning the party, and then Rob learns that one of their neighbors has planned a party for the same night. Determined to make his wife's birthday special, Rob decides to merge the two parties together, but complications arise when Laura's old boyfriend shows up. Meanwhile, Buddy and Sally struggle to come up with a gift for Laura, and end up with a less-than-impressive present. Throughout the episode, Rob and Laura reflect on their past birthdays together and the joys and challenges of getting older. As the night goes on, the party becomes chaotic, but ultimately ends up being a success, and Laura is touched by the effort her friends and family put into celebrating her special day.
