Rob and Laura are excited to attend a performance of "The Lady and the Tiger" at a local theater. However, their plans are interrupted when Laura receives a telephone call from a friend, Marge, who is in distress. Marge reveals that her husband, who happens to be a lawyer, is representing a woman who is accused of murder. Despite the fact that the accused woman is Marge's friend, Marge believes that she is guilty and does not want her husband to represent her.
Laura agrees to accompany Marge to her husband's office to try and convince him to drop the case. At the office, they are met with resistance from both Marge's husband and the accused woman. Laura and Marge leave feeling defeated and unsure of what to do next.
Meanwhile, Rob is enlisted to write a sketch for a television show. He struggles to come up with a good idea but is eventually inspired by the events of the day to write a sketch about a lawyer who must defend a woman accused of murder. The twist is that at the end of the sketch, it is revealed that the woman is actually innocent.
Laura and Marge are initially hesitant about the sketch, as it hits too close to home, but eventually agree to let Rob perform it on the television show. The sketch is a success, and afterwards, Marge's husband confesses to dropping the case. The accused woman is ultimately cleared of all charges.
The episode ends with Rob and Laura reflecting on the events of the day and the power of storytelling to bring about change. The Lady and the Tiger and the Lawyer is an entertaining and thought-provoking episode that explores the complexities of friendship, justice, and the creative process.
