In season 6, episode 9 of The Dead Files, titled "Bound," paranormal investigator Amy Allan and retired homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi travel to Ft. Barnwell, North Carolina to investigate a home haunted by the spirits of former slaves.
The homeowners, a couple named Alan and Heather, contacted the show after experiencing a series of unsettling events in their home. According to Alan, he has seen shadowy figures walking around the house at night, and Heather has claimed to have been physically touched by an unseen presence. The couple believes that the activity may be related to the fact that their home is situated on land that was once a plantation.
As usual, Amy and Steve conduct their investigations separately before coming together to share their findings. Amy begins by conducting a walkthrough of the home, during which she can sense the presence of several spirits. She is particularly affected by the energy in the master bedroom, where she feels as though she is being pinned down by an invisible force.
Meanwhile, Steve delves into the history of the property. He learns that the land was indeed once owned by a plantation owner named Samuel, who forced his slaves to work long hours in the fields. Many of the slaves died as a result of the harsh conditions, and some were even buried on the property.
When Amy and Steve come together to compare their findings, they discover that they have both identified the same male spirit in the master bedroom. Amy describes him as a former slave who is deeply angry about his treatment while he was alive. Steve believes that this spirit is responsible for the physical touching that Heather has experienced.
Amy also senses a female spirit in the home, whom she believes was a former slave who was sexually assaulted by Samuel. This spirit is said to be trapped in the home, unable to move on.
Overall, Amy and Steve believe that the spirits in the home are malevolent and may even pose a threat to the homeowners. They recommend a full cleansing of the home, as well as a ritual to help the trapped female spirit move on. Alan and Heather are clearly shaken by the presence of these spirits in their home, and they are grateful for the assistance of Amy and Steve.
As always, The Dead Files delivers a chilling investigation into the paranormal, blending history and supernatural phenomena to create an intriguing and frightening episode. Fans of the show will not be disappointed by "Bound."
