Denise Kendall, the eldest daughter of the Huxtable family, returns home to visit her family. However, her arrival is not without its own set of problems. Denise has been going through a tough time lately, struggling to come to terms with the end of her marriage and her newfound single status.
As usual, the Huxtable family rallies around Denise to offer support and comfort. Cliff tries to cheer her up by sharing stories of his own failed marriages, while Claire offers a more practical approach, suggesting that Denise see a therapist.
But Denise has other plans. She's decided to take matters into her own hands and become a singles counselor herself. However, her first client turns out to be someone she knows all too well - her ex-husband Martin.
Despite some serious initial hesitations, Denise agrees to help Martin navigate the tricky waters of being single once again. Through a series of intimate and revealing conversations, Denise and Martin are able to reconnect and find some closure in their broken relationship.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Huxtable family is dealing with problems of their own. Theo is getting frustrated with his lack of progress in school, while Vanessa is struggling with her identity as a teenage girl. Rudy is excited by the arrival of a new pet frog, but quickly learns the hard way that taking care of a pet is not as easy as it seems.
All of these various storylines come together beautifully in this heartwarming and hilarious episode of The Cosby Show. With its sharp writing, relatable characters, and timely themes, Denise Kendall: Singles Counselor is a shining example of what made this show such a beloved cultural phenomenon.
