The Comic Strip Presents is a British comedy sketch show that first aired in 1982. Each episode featured a different story, and the final episode of the first season was titled "The Bullshitters." The episode followed the misadventures of two struggling actors named Ralph Filthy (Peter Richardson) and Jim "Nobba" Trott (Adrian Edmondson).

The premise of the episode was that Ralph and Jim were hired by the government to pose as members of a secret agency called the Bullshitters. Their job was to create a fake terrorist organization and then "defeat" it, allowing the government to claim a victory in the fight against terrorism.

The two actors were initially excited about the prospect of becoming spies, but it quickly became apparent that they were out of their depth. They struggled to come up with convincing cover stories and were constantly thwarted by their own incompetence.

One of the major challenges they faced was the lack of resources available to them. The Bullshitters were given a small budget to create a fake terrorist organization, but it was nowhere near enough to make it convincing. They resorted to using household items and cheap disguises to create their "terrorists," leading to some hilariously inept scenes.

Another problem the duo faced was the fact that they were constantly being monitored by their superior, a stern and humorless agent named Major Courage (Robbie Coltrane). Any time Ralph and Jim tried to have some fun or deviate from the plan, Major Courage was there to remind them of their responsibilities.

Despite their many setbacks, Ralph and Jim eventually managed to create a convincing enough fake terrorist organization. They even recruited a few unwitting accomplices along the way, including a hapless janitor and a retired actor who was willing to play their "leader."

The final act of the episode saw the Bullshitters' plan put into action. They staged a fake attack on a train station and managed to convince Major Courage and his team that they had successfully thwarted a terrorist plot. However, things took a hilarious turn when it was revealed that the real terrorists had been watching the whole time and had taken advantage of the chaos to launch their own attack.

Overall, "The Bullshitters" was a classic example of the kind of irreverent, absurdist humor that The Comic Strip Presents became known for. It was a clever commentary on the way in which governments manipulate the media to create a sense of security and control. At the same time, it was a tribute to the power of comedy to highlight the absurdities of our everyday lives.
