The Cleaning Lady season 2 episode 1, titled "Sins of the Father," opens with a flash forward to the aftermath of a violent altercation. A gunshot rings out, and we see the bloodied figure of Alice struggling to stay alive. From there, the narrative jumps back in time to reveal how Alice (played by Elodie Yung) found herself in this dangerous situation.
We learn that Alice is still grappling with the guilt of killing her abusive husband, Gabriel (Adam Faison), at the end of season 1. She's been living under the radar since then, assuming new identities and taking on new cleaning jobs to support herself. But when she's hired by a wealthy family to clean their mansion, she finds herself drawn into their drama.
The family in question is the Velez clan, headed by patriarch Santiago (Adan Canto), a powerful businessman with a dark past. Santiago's wife, Marisol (Gina Gallego), is a former beauty queen who's struggled with depression and addiction. Their children, Eddie (Joel Courtney) and Isabella (Mimi Kirkland), are both dealing with their own issues as well.
Alice quickly realizes that there's more going on in the Velez household than she initially thought. She observes tense conversations between Santiago and his son, and picks up on strange, subtle cues in the family dynamic. Things come to a head when Santiago enlists Alice to clean up a crime scene at a local nightclub, and she realizes that the bloodied body on the floor belongs to Luz (Veronica Falcón), a close friend of the Velez family.
As Alice tries to piece together what happened to Luz, she finds herself drawn deeper into the Velez family's affairs. She uncovers secrets about Santiago's past that threaten to destroy the family's reputation and tear them apart. At the same time, Alice must confront her own past and the trauma that led her to become a cleaning lady in the first place.
"Sins of the Father" sets up an intense, thrilling season of The Cleaning Lady that promises to explore themes of family, power, and redemption. Elodie Yung gives a powerful performance as Alice, conveying both her vulnerability and her determination to protect those she cares about. The mysteries at the heart of the Velez family provide plenty of twists and turns, and the episode ends on a cliffhanger that will leave viewers eagerly anticipating what comes next.
