The Capture season 1 episode 3, titled Truffle Hog, follows the story of former soldier Shaun Emery (played by Callum Turner) as he attempts to clear his name after being falsely accused of a crime. In this episode, Shaun is released from prison and is determined to find evidence that will prove his innocence.

Shaun meets with his lawyer Hannah Roberts (played by Laura Haddock) and informs her about the developments in his case. Hannah suggests that they use the data from the CCTV footage to analyze the movements of the people involved in the crime. They decide to focus on the movements of the alleged victim, Hannah Roberts' acquaintance Hannah Roberts.

Shaun and Hannah are able to track down Hannah's whereabouts on the day of the crime, but the data is inconclusive. They then turn to another source of information: facial recognition software. When Hannah's face is recognized in the footage, they discover that she was wearing a wig and makeup on the day of the crime. This leads them to believe that she may have been involved in framing Shaun.

Meanwhile, Detective Inspector Rachel Carey (played by Holliday Grainger) is investigating a case of a missing person. She suspects that the victim's boyfriend, Andy (played by Ben Miles), may have had something to do with her disappearance. Rachel decides to use the facial recognition software to track down Andy's movements on the day of the crime.

As the investigation progresses, Shaun finds himself in a dangerous situation when he is approached by an unknown person who threatens to harm him unless he leaves the country. Shaun is forced to go on the run and seek help from an unlikely ally.

The episode ends on a cliffhanger as both Shaun and Rachel's investigations lead them to a surprising discovery that will change the course of the case.

Overall, Truffle Hog is a tense and thrilling episode that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The use of facial recognition technology adds an interesting element to the investigation and highlights the potential pitfalls of relying too heavily on AI in law enforcement. The episode also raises important questions about the use of surveillance in modern society and the balance between privacy and security.
