When it comes to safety, Gordon Brittas takes no chances. In season 2 episode 6 of The Brittas Empire, titled "Safety First," the hapless manager of the Whitbury Leisure Centre is dealing with a visit from the council's Health and Safety inspector, who is looking to shut down the facility due to a string of accidents and near-misses.
Brittas, ever the perfectionist, decides to take matters into his own hands and prove that his center is up to code. He enlists the help of his loyal staff, including the bumbling maintenance man Colin, the sarcastic receptionist Carole, and the ambitious fitness instructor Laura, to make sure everything is shipshape for the inspector's visit.
But as always, things quickly spiral out of control. Brittas goes overboard with his safety precautions, installing fire alarms and smoke detectors at every turn. He also enlists the help of a local amateur dramatics group to simulate a fake emergency scenario, complete with fake injuries and a helicopter rescue.
Meanwhile, Colin is tasked with fixing a leaky water pipe, but he accidentally knocks out the power to the entire center in the process. And Carole enlists the help of her new boyfriend, a smooth-talking security guard named John, to try to impress the inspector, but his unorthodox methods leave much to be desired.
As the inspector's visit draws near, tensions run high, and Brittas becomes increasingly agitated. But just when it seems like everything is falling apart, a surprise twist saves the day and restores order to the Whitbury Leisure Centre.
Filled with hilarious mishaps, witty one-liners, and absurd situations, "Safety First" is a classic episode of The Brittas Empire that will have viewers laughing out loud from start to finish.
