The Brady Bunch Season 1 Episode 3: Eenie, Meenie, Mommy, Daddy
Eenie, Meenie, Mommy, Daddy is the third episode of the first season of The Brady Bunch. In this episode, the Brady family has a major decision to make: should they get a dog? Cindy, the youngest of the Brady siblings, desperately wants a dog, and the rest of the kids are on board as well. However, their parents, Mike and Carol Brady, are undecided.
Mike and Carol decide to use a classic children’s rhyme to determine whether or not they should get a dog. The rhyme goes “Eenie, meenie, miney, mo, catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollers, let him go. Eenie, meenie, miney, mo.” But instead of saying “tiger,” they substitute “dog.”
The kids are thrilled when the rhyme lands on getting a dog. They immediately start discussing what kind of dog they want and what they should name it. However, Mike and Carol realize that owning a dog comes with a lot of responsibility, and they decide to put together a list of chores for each kid to do in order to prove that they are responsible enough to take care of a dog.
The kids enthusiastically start doing their chores, but they soon realize that taking care of a dog is a lot of work. They have to feed it, walk it, and clean up after it. They also have to make sure that the dog doesn’t destroy the house or furniture. As the days go on, the kids get tired and start slacking off on their chores.
One night, Mike comes home to find that the house is a mess and the dog has gotten into some of the kids’ toys. He decides that the kids aren’t ready for the responsibility of taking care of a dog, and he and Carol tell the kids that they are not getting a dog. The kids are devastated, but they realize that their parents were right and that they weren’t ready for a dog.
Despite the disappointment, the family decides to make the best of the situation. They take the money that they would have spent on a dog and use it to go on a fun outing together. They end up having a great time, and they realize that they don’t need a dog to be happy.
Eenie, Meenie, Mommy, Daddy is a classic episode of The Brady Bunch that is sure to bring back memories for fans of the show. It’s a fun and lighthearted episode that teaches an important lesson about responsibility and family. Although it was filmed over 50 years ago, the themes and messages in the episode are still relevant today.
