In The Hook-up Reverberation, the fourth episode of season 8 of The Big Bang Theory, things heat up between Raj and Emily. After a chance encounter at the comic book store, Raj and Emily hit it off and decide to go on a date. But there's a catch - Emily insists that Raj must break up with both of his ex-girlfriends, Lucy and Emily, before they can move forward with their relationship.
Meanwhile, Sheldon is struggling to come up with a new project idea after finishing his string theory work. When he decides to focus on solving a Rubik's Cube, he becomes obsessed with it and refuses to work on anything else. His fixation eventually causes some tension with Amy, who feels neglected by his lack of attention.
Howard and Bernadette also have their own drama to deal with when they run into Howard's former girlfriend, Emily, at a science event. Bernadette is unhappy with how flirtatious Emily is with Howard, and Howard is equally uncomfortable with the situation. They weigh the pros and cons of telling her to back off and eventually decide to have a talk with her.
As usual, the gang's antics and mishaps provide plenty of laughs and entertainment in this episode. The Hook-up Reverberation shows that relationships can get complicated, even for a group of highly intelligent and quirky friends.
