In The Big Bang Theory season 12 episode 3, titled The Procreation Calculation, the gang is focused on the prospect of having children. Bernadette is feeling overwhelmed and feeling like she's not enough for her family, with two young children and a full-time job as a scientist. Howard is ready for a third child, while Bernadette is hesitant to add more to her plate.
Meanwhile, Sheldon and Amy have their own ideas about starting a family. They decide to undergo a series of tests to see if they're ready to take on parenthood. This leads to some hilarious moments, including Sheldon awkwardly attempting to interact with children at the park.
Penny and Leonard, who previously didn't have children on their radar, begin to think about what having a baby would mean for their lives and relationship. They have a heart-to-heart about their fears and hopes for the future, and whether or not they're ready to become parents.
As always, the episode features plenty of witty banter and pop culture references, as well as nods to the characters' unique quirks and obsessions (such as Sheldon's love of trains and Amy's fondness for baked goods).
Overall, The Procreation Calculation is a funny and heartfelt exploration of the joys and challenges of parenthood, as well as the various paths that people can take in choosing whether or not to start a family.
