Ep 10. The Closet Reconfiguration
- March 14, 2013
In The Big Bang Theory, Producers' Picks season 1 episode 10, named The Closet Reconfiguration, the audience gets a glimpse into the lives of Sheldon, Leonard, and Penny. The episode starts with Sheldon's closet reconfiguration project, which has been in the works for a few days. Sheldon is known for being extremely organized, and his closet is no exception. He has a very specific method of organizing his clothes and arranging his items, so his closet is a source of pride for him. However, there is one thing missing from his closet - a famous poster he used to have. Sheldon remembers how much he liked the poster and decides to find it.
Meanwhile, Penny needs help fixing the showerhead in her apartment. She asks Leonard for help, and he quickly agrees. However, when Leonard enters Penny's apartment, he gives her a set of rules to follow before he can start fixing the showerhead. He tells her that she has to follow a specific protocol to ensure their work environment is efficient, organized, and clean. This protocol includes washing her hands before and after entering and leaving the bathroom, not using the toilet while he is working, and not speaking to him unless absolutely necessary.
Back at the apartment, Sheldon has asked Howard and Raj for their help in finding his poster. Howard and Raj have been searching through his storage room for hours with little luck when Leonard and Penny arrive. Leonard is frustrated with Penny because she is not following the rules he set earlier. However, when Sheldon is asked to help fix the showerhead, he jumps at the chance, possibly to get away from the futile poster search.
As Leonard and Howard continue looking for Sheldon's poster, Sheldon and Raj talk about their relationship with their respective mothers. Sheldon shares how he was raised by a strict mother who used to give him a specific number of hugs and kisses per day. He also reveals that his mother sent him to Sunday school to learn how to make friends, which he found rather ironic.
Meanwhile, Leonard and Howard are still unable to find Sheldon's poster. However, they eventually come across a box that belonged to Sheldon's father. Inside this box is a telescope. The discovery of the telescope leads to a touching moment where Leonard and Howard are able to connect with Sheldon on a deeper level. They both understand how much the telescope means to Sheldon and the role it played in his childhood. They even offer to clean it up and fix it for him.
At the end of the episode, Sheldon realizes that his search for his poster has been pointless, and he decides to let it go. He is instead grateful for the time spent with his friends and the unexpected discovery of his father's telescope. Leonard and Penny have also patched things up, with Penny agreeing to follow Leonard's rules so he can fix her showerhead. Finally, we see Raj and Howard going through their own stash of personal items, reminiscing about their childhood.
The Closet Reconfiguration is a heartwarming episode that shows how Sheldon and his friends have a close bond despite their quirks and distinct personalities. It emphasizes the importance of family, friendship, and finding joy in unexpected moments.
