The Beverly Hillbillies season 6 episode 8, titled "Mr. Universe Muscles In," follows the Clampett family as they meet a new neighbor, Mr. Universe. Mr. Universe is a bodybuilder who has just moved into a nearby mansion. The Clampetts are excited to welcome him, but they soon discover that he is not the friendly neighbor they thought he was.
Jed is the first to meet Mr. Universe, and he's immediately impressed by the man's muscles. He invites Mr. Universe to come over for a home-cooked meal, but Mr. Universe declines the invitation, saying that he's on a strict diet.
The next day, Granny sees Mr. Universe working out in his backyard and goes to talk to him. She tells him that the Clampetts are a friendly bunch and he should come over for a visit. Mr. Universe agrees, and Granny goes back to the mansion to tell the rest of the family the good news.
Elly May is excited to meet Mr. Universe, and she spends the afternoon getting ready for his visit. She puts on a fancy dress and does her hair in an elaborate style. When Mr. Universe finally arrives, Elly May is smitten with him, but she soon realizes that he's not the kind of man she wants to spend time with.
Mr. Universe is rude to the Clampetts and makes fun of their way of life. He tells them that they're not fit and healthy like he is, and that they need to start taking care of themselves better. The Clampetts are insulted by his comments, but they don't say anything to him.
The next day, Mr. Universe invites the Clampetts to come to his mansion for a workout. They're hesitant at first, but they eventually agree to go. When they get there, they're surprised to see that Mr. Universe has a gym set up in his living room. He shows them how to use the equipment and tells them that they need to start working out if they want to be healthy.
The Clampetts don't like the idea of working out, but they try it anyway. They quickly realize that it's not for them, and they decide to leave. Mr. Universe tries to convince them to stay, but they're determined to go home.
As they're leaving, Mr. Universe insults them again, and this time the Clampetts have had enough. They tell him that they don't want him as a neighbor and that they don't like the way he's been treating them. Mr. Universe is shocked by their reaction and he apologizes for his behavior.
In the end, the Clampetts reconcile with Mr. Universe, and they all become good friends. Mr. Universe learns to appreciate the Clampetts for who they are, and they appreciate him for who he is. They may not share the same interests, but they all learn to respect each other.
