The Beverly Hillbillies season 5 episode 19, The Clampett Curse, follows the Clampett family as they deal with a supposed curse placed on their family by a witch many centuries ago. Granny, the matriarch of the family, believes that the curse is responsible for all the misfortunes that have befallen the Clampetts over the years, including the loss of their beloved cow, Elly May's illness, and Jethro's inability to find a suitable wife.
Despite the skepticism of the rest of the family, Granny is convinced that the only way to lift the curse is to perform a special ritual involving a voodoo doll. She orders Jed to retrieve some hair from the witch who cast the curse, which she plans to use in the ritual. Meanwhile, Jethro is convinced that he can break the curse by performing a heroic act, so he sets out to save a woman who he believes is in danger.
As the Clampetts prepare for the ritual, they are visited by a group of traveling gypsies who offer to help them lift the curse. Granny initially refuses their offer, but when the voodoo doll fails to work, she reluctantly turns to the gypsies for assistance.
The gypsies perform a series of elaborate dances and rituals, accompanied by mystical chanting and the burning of incense. While the rest of the family remains skeptical, the gypsies are able to convince Granny that the curse has been lifted and that their luck is about to change.
However, when Elly May's condition takes a turn for the worse and the family's truck breaks down on the way to the doctor, Granny becomes convinced that the curse has not been lifted after all. In a fit of desperation, she decides to put her faith in the gypsies and begs them to lift the curse once and for all.
In the end, the gypsies are able to put Granny's fears to rest and convince her that the curse was never real to begin with. They explain that much of what has happened to the Clampett family can be attributed to simple bad luck and chance, and that there is no need to resort to voodoo or curses to explain their misfortunes.
The Clampetts are relieved to finally put the curse behind them and set out to enjoy their new, curse-free lives. While Granny may never fully shake her superstitious beliefs, the family is happy to put their supernatural troubles behind them and continue living their simple life in Beverly Hills.
