In The Beverly Hillbillies season 3 episode 23, titled "Drysdale's Dog Days," the Clampett family finds themselves in a whirlwind of trouble when their loyal dog, Duke, gets in a fight with Drysdale's prized pooch.
The episode begins with the Clampetts enjoying a leisurely afternoon in their backyard. Granny is busy preparing a feast, while Jed, Jethro, and Elly May are playing a game of horseshoes. Meanwhile, Duke is napping in the sun, enjoying the breeze.
Suddenly, Drysdale's dog, a pampered and well-groomed poodle named Fifi, wanders into the Clampett's yard. Duke, sensing a threat to his territory, jumps up and chases after the poodle. Before the Clampetts can intervene, the two dogs engage in a heated brawl, causing a commotion in the neighborhood.
Drysdale, infuriated by Duke's behavior, demands that the Clampetts pay for the damages caused by their dog. The family is shocked by the news and feels helpless, not knowing how they will be able to pay for the damages.
In an effort to make amends, the Clampetts begin a series of attempts to raise money. Jed sells his prized rifle collection, Granny bakes pies to sell at the market, and Elly May tries her hand at dog grooming. However, despite their best efforts, they are unable to raise enough money to pay for the damages.
Meanwhile, Drysdale is doing everything in his power to make the Clampetts pay. He places liens on their property, shuts off their water and electricity, and even tries to have Duke sent to the pound.
In the midst of the chaos, the Clampetts receive unexpected help from an unlikely source. Mr. Drysdale's wife, Margaret, takes pity on the family and comes up with a plan to settle the feud between the two dogs. She hosts a dog show, inviting both Duke and Fifi to participate. If Duke wins, the Clampetts will not have to pay for the damages, but if Fifi wins, they will owe even more.
The day of the dog show arrives, and tensions are running high. The Clampetts are nervous but determined to win. The competition is fierce, but in the end, Duke emerges as the winner.
With the feud finally settled, the Clampetts are able to make peace with Drysdale. They all come together for a barbecue and celebrate Duke's victory. The episode ends with the Clampetts feeling grateful for the unexpected help they received and the newfound friendship they have formed with the Drysdales.
Overall, "Drysdale's Dog Days" is a heartwarming and entertaining episode that showcases the Clampett family's resilience and kindness even in the face of adversity. Fans of the show will enjoy the humorous antics of the family and the unexpected twists and turns of the plot.
