In The Beverly Hillbillies season 3 episode 18, titled "Clampett A-Go-Go," the Clampetts are invited to the most important social event in Beverly Hills--the Crawdad Festival. Granny is excited to attend the festival, but the rest of the family is unaware of what it actually is. Jethro thinks it's a race, while Elly May is convinced it's a fishing competition.
As they arrive at the festival, the Clampetts quickly realize that it's nothing like what they expected. There is music, dancing, and tons of food. They also learn that the Crawdad Festival is where socialites go to show off their latest fashions. Granny is determined for the family to fit in and impress everyone there.
As the festivities begin, the Clampetts are introduced to a wealthy couple, the Drysdales, who own most of Beverly Hills. Mr. Drysdale is shocked to see the Clampetts at the festival and asks them why they are there. Granny quickly covers by saying they were invited by her old friend. The Drysdales are not convinced and begin to talk amongst themselves.
Throughout the night, the Clampetts continue to embarrass themselves by dancing awkwardly and dressing in their usual hillbilly attire. Granny is upset that they are not fitting in and decides to take matters into her own hands. She convinces the family to change into what she calls "fancy" clothes, which are actually just their old Sunday best outfits.
As they re-enter the festival, the Clampetts catch the eye of everyone there. People begin to compliment them on their outfits and even ask for pictures. Mr. Drysdale is shocked that the Clampetts were able to fit in and decides to introduce them to more important socialites at the event.
As the night comes to a close, the Clampetts are invited to several other social events in Beverly Hills. Mr. Drysdale is impressed with how well they fit in and thinks that they may be able to integrate themselves into high society. Granny is thrilled with the night's success and begins planning the family's next appearance.
Overall, "Clampett A-Go-Go" showcases the Clampetts' attempt to fit in with Beverly Hills' elite. While it's evident that the family is uncomfortable with the social norms, they are willing to try new experiences and find ways to impress those around them. It's a heartwarming episode that highlights the importance of being true to oneself while navigating new environments.
