Jed Clampett, patriarch of the Clampett clan and newly-minted oil millionaire, has become bored with his everyday life and starts to crave new challenges. With his backstory as a hillbilly from rural Tennessee, he decides to test his mettle as a Hollywood producer and make a movie about his own life.
With the help of his family, including his nephew Jethro, niece Elly May, and sister-in-law Granny, Jed sets out to finance and produce his own movie. Jed's vision for the film is a sweeping epic that covers his entire life, from his days as a dirt-poor farmer to his present-day success as an oil tycoon.
However, his ideals prove easier said than done. With a limited budget and no previous experience in the film industry, Jed is forced to scramble to assemble a crew and secure talent for his movie. His journey takes him and his family on a wild ride from Hollywood to Las Vegas when they try to find industry insiders to help them with their project.
Jed's efforts are further complicated by the scheming of shifty film producer and longtime industry vet, Frank Akers, who sees Jed's inexperience as an opportunity to exploit and profit from him.
Despite the numerous obstacles, Jed persists and even has a chance encounter that proves to be a turning point in the film's success.
Despite the high odds of failure, Jed and his family navigate the ups and downs of Hollywood life, learning important lessons about the movie-making process, the entertainment industry, and themselves. They ultimately emerge with an unforgettable cinematic experience that captures the spirit of Jed's life journey.
Full of laughs, heartfelt moments, and memorable hijinks, "Jed Becomes a Movie Mogul" is an entertaining and satisfying season premier episode.
