In episode 25 of season 2 of The Beverly Hillbillies, titled "Granny Versus the Weather Bureau," the Clampetts are faced with a severe case of bad weather. With the threat of a thunderstorm looming overhead, the family becomes increasingly anxious about their safety. Granny, in particular, is concerned about the weather given her experience with natural disasters back in the Ozarks.
As the skies grow darker, Granny becomes more and more agitated. She is convinced that the incoming storm is going to be unlike anything they have ever experienced before. In an effort to prepare for the worst, she begins stockpiling supplies and organizing the family's emergency plan.
Jed, on the other hand, is more laid back about the situation. He believes that the family has been through tough times before and that they will be able to weather the storm, both literally and figuratively. However, he agrees to go along with Granny's preparations as a way of placating her fears.
Meanwhile, Jethro becomes obsessed with the weather report. He spends hours listening to the radio and watching the news, trying to get a sense of what kind of storm they can expect. However, the more information he gathers, the more confused he becomes. Some reports predict a mild storm, while others suggest that a tornado is on its way.
As the storm approaches, the family takes shelter in the basement. Granny is in her element, barking orders and making sure that everyone is safe. However, when the storm finally hits, it becomes clear that the weather bureau was not prepared for the severity of the storm. Despite their assurances that the storm would be mild, the family is confronted with high winds, driving rain, and lightning strikes all around them.
In the chaos, Granny takes matters into her own hands. She decides to challenge the weather bureau's authority by making her own predictions about the storm. Armed with her own knowledge of weather patterns and experience with storms, she believes that she can do a better job predicting what will happen.
Her confidence proves to be well-placed, as she accurately predicts the storm's movements and advises the family on how best to stay safe. Her predictions also impress the family, who are amazed by her knowledge and skill.
In the end, the storm passes and the family emerges unscathed. However, Granny's triumph over the weather bureau serves as a reminder that sometimes the best way to deal with a crisis is to trust your own instincts and knowledge. It also shows that even in the face of uncertainty and fear, the Clampetts are able to come together and support each other.
