The Beverly Hillbillies season 1 episode 21, "Jed Plays Solomon," follows the Clampett family as they navigate their new life in Beverly Hills. In this episode, Jed Clampett (played by Buddy Ebsen) is faced with a difficult decision when he is given custody of two young children.

The episode begins with Granny (played by Irene Ryan) listening in on a conversation between Jed and his banker, Mr. Drysdale (played by Raymond Bailey). Mr. Drysdale informs Jed that his nephew and wife have passed away, and that they have left behind two children, Cindy and Jimmy. Jed is shocked to hear this news and decides to take the children in as his own.

Upon meeting the children, the Clampetts quickly realize that they don't know the first thing about raising kids. Granny suggests that they turn to the Bible for guidance and Jed agrees. He decides to emulate the wisdom of King Solomon and try to find a solution that will be fair and just for everyone involved.

Jethro (played by Max Baer Jr.) is excited about the new additions to the Clampett family and decides to teach them a thing or two about life in Beverly Hills. He takes the kids out on a shopping spree and buys them expensive clothes and toys. Meanwhile, Granny is busy cooking up a storm and trying to get Cindy and Jimmy to eat her hillbilly cooking.

As the Clampetts work to adjust to their new family dynamic, Mr. Drysdale becomes increasingly concerned about the effect that the children will have on Jed's finances. He worries that the family won't be able to afford to raise them and suggests that they send them to a boarding school instead. Jed is outraged by this suggestion and insists that he will find a way to make things work.

Throughout the episode, Jed grapples with the difficult decision of how to best care for Cindy and Jimmy. He consults with his family and even seeks advice from some of his new Beverly Hills neighbors. Ultimately, he comes up with a plan that he believes will be best for everyone involved.

"Jed Plays Solomon" is a heartwarming episode that showcases the caring and compassionate nature of the Clampett family. It highlights the challenges of blending two different lifestyles and demonstrates the importance of family, no matter where you come from. Viewers will be moved by the Clampett's determination to do what's right and their willingness to go above and beyond to care for those in need.
